The Queen of Beauty

[Return to poems]

In ringing tones, She calls upon us
to behold her resplendence:

haughty eyes set like gems in golden skin,
parted lips perfectly molded,

bust shaded in supple chiaroscuro,
décolletage delicately carved.

Her shape, masterfully wrought,
is draped in glittering cloth.

She proclaims the immortality
of her perfection,
invites us all to fall to our kneeds,
to cringe before her terrible radiance.
